A spliced (stitched/mosaic) multispectral filter is a compact optical element in which individually fabricated single‑band interference filters are diced into small segments and precisely assembled—via high‑accuracy alignment and bonding—onto different spatial regions of a common transparent substrate. This configuration realizes spatial integration of multiple spectral channels without requiring moving filter wheels or complex monolithic multiband coatings.

The fabrication process demands strict control of inter‑channel parallelism, sub‑micron spatial alignment accuracy, and effective suppression of light leakage at splicing interfaces. Thermally stable, high‑strength adhesive bonding is used to ensure long‑term mechanical and optical reliability in demanding environments such as spaceborne remote sensing or medical multispectral imaging.

Each channel preserves excellent spectral performance—including high peak transmittance, steep cut‑off edges, and deep out‑of‑band blocking—while the modular architecture allows flexible customization of spectral combinations. Compared with conventional stacked or coated multiband filters, the spliced multispectral filter offers key advantages of compactness, design flexibility, and cost‑effectiveness, making it well suited for pushbroom imaging spectrometers, multispectral cameras, and biomedical diagnostic instruments.
